WildPackets' Omni is a
distributed network analysis platform for optimizing network
services and maximizing uptime on enterprise networks. Omni
gives network engineers real-time visibility into every part
of the network—including Gigabit, 10/100, 802.11 wireless,
VoIP, and WAN links to remote offices. Using Omni’s
centralized console, distributed engines, and expert
analysis, engineers can rapidly troubleshoot faults and fix
problems, restoring essential services and maximizing
network uptime.
Omni enables network
engineers to:
- Accelerate
troubleshooting and maximize network uptime across the
entire enterprise, including remote offices
- Gain real-time
visibility into any part of the network from a central
location
- Respond more rapidly and
effectively to end user requests
- Eliminate travel to
other buildings and campuses
- Ensure that
mission-critical applications get the network bandwidth
and availability they need
- Increase network
performance while decreasing time and expenses for
analysis and troubleshooting
- Integrate network
troubleshooting with other NOC applications and
procedures
- Adapt global
troubleshooting capabilities to new processes and
applications as the network evolves

The OmniPeek console
provides centralized expert analysis for all networks under
management. Through OmniPeek’s intuitive user interface,
administrators—even junior staff—can analyze faults from
multiple network segments, drill down through multiple
layers of analysis, and quickly identify faults for
correction.
|
The Omni
Management Console gives network engineers centralized
control for managing all aspects of their Omni deployments,
including software configuration and updates, access
controls, and Remote Engine start-up and shut-down. The
Console is a Windows software application that can be
installed anywhere on a network configured with the Omni
distributed fault analysis platform.

Omni Capture
Engine captures traffic from one or more network interfaces
and supports all the network topologies including 10/100
Ethernet, 802.11 wireless, Gigabit, and WAN. Using Omni
Capture Engine to capture traffic and the OmniPeek console
to analyze the data and view real-time results, network
engineers can rapidly troubleshoot faults-even faults
occurring at remote locations. Enterprises that cannot
afford to staff each office with a network engineer can use
Omni Capture Engine to ensure that every business location
receives the network engineering support it needs.

Building on
WildPackets’ award-winning EtherPeek NX technology, Peek
DNX is an application that performs real-time packet-stream
analytics on live network conversations. To accelerate
troubleshooting while minimizing bandwidth consumption, Peek
DNX performs its analysis locally on the remote engine and
transmits only the data requested by the OmniPeek console.
All communication between OmniPeek and Peek DNX is encrypted
and compressed.
A single
Peek DNX engine can perform analysis and monitoring on any
combination of the following network types: 10/100 Ethernet,
Full-duplex Gigabit, WAN and 802.11 WLAN.

(formally Omni Packet Grabber)
WildPackets'
Omni Desktop Engine is a Windows service that runs on
desktop computers and captures packets for analysis. Omni
Desktop Engine provides network engineers with the
visibility into end user computers they need in order to
accelerate troubleshooting and to maximize productivity.
Packet captures can be initiated by network engineers or
Help Desk representatives running the OmniPeek Analysis
Console; alternatively, captures can be initiated
automatically when specific trigger conditions are met. Once
a capture is complete, network engineers can transfer the
packets into OmniPeek for analysis. OmniPeek’s wealth of
analysis features, including 7-layer decodes and Visual
Expert analytics, make it easy to find and fix problems
quickly.

The
Omnipliance network appliance is a turn-key solution for
deploying Peek DNX on an enterprise network. In a standard
3U rack-mountable unit, the Omnipliance provides a powerful
Windows platform that runs the Peek DNX engine and supports
monitoring and analysis of 10/100, Gigabit, WAN, and WLAN
segments. A LCD display on the front panel enables network
engineers to configure the Omnipliance without connecting a
terminal.
